Can I put you in my confidence?
I’m loving my library.
Yes it’s true. Whenever it’s time to visit the local library it just lifts my spirits. To top it all off, even here in Germany, most times the librarians are friendly. Yes, friendly, can you imagine? Anyone who’s ever lived in Germany knows that when you go shopping or have to run errands someplace, you don’t always meet a friendly face on the other side of the counter. In fact, the sales clerks can be downright rude sometimes.
But not at the library. No way, they always seem so easygoing and happy in there. You can tell they enjoy their job, and why would they not? They get to spend hours on end in there. It’s my happy place, and from the looks of it, it’s their happy place too.
Mostly it’s quiet, some doing research, some just taking a break and paging through a book. I love seeing it when kids discover new books, even just for looking at (that’s how it starts, the book bug).
I don’t go to the library too often, sometimes just once a month, but when I do I usually grab at least 5 books. I mostly go for how-to books nowadays because I have way too many novels sitting at home that I own and have not yet read. I love the decorating and crafting books for inspiration.
I don’t know, there is just something about having a book in your hand. I mean, most things (everything) can essentially be found on the internet nowadays, but sitting down in a quiet place with a hot drink and a new to me book is like a tiny piece of paradise.
Yesterday I took a really quick trip to the library because they were holding a book for me that I was now able to pick it up. ET dropped me off and waited in the car, and knowing that the parking is free if you only stay in the parking garage for half-hour I was a bit under a time crunch…and I get a bit nervous when under a time crunch folks. Just saying. So I dropped off my books at the counter, got the saved book and quickly scanned a few movies and books and off I ran back into the parking garage. Whew, made it in time not to have to pay for parking. Here’s what I grabbed and am reading (or watching) right now…
I’ve been wanting to do some reviews on the blog and the first one I want to start with is “Magic Cleaning” by Marie Kondo. I’m actually a pretty tidy person by nature, and maybe that’s why I picked up this book, wondering if I’ll learn anything new?!
Well, the week is almost over and I guess it’s safe to wish you all a happy weekend by the time you read this! Tomorrow I will have a full blessed day of activity, first driving my husband to work, then breakfast with my son, his wife and SweetPea. A quick trip to the edge of the Black Forest to pick up my other son from school and then picking up ET back from work. Just the ordinary madness of a one-car household! It’s a fact, when you only have one car to the family, that one car takes a beating sometimes. Not complaining though, it’s life as I’m living and loving it! In the evening, ET and I are going on a date with my sister-in-law who has gifted us with a concert for our birthdays, how cool is that.
Now again, happy weekend!
