Wow, it’s been quiet around here. I’m doing things behind the scenes right now… I’ve been doing spring cleaning and getting rid of some clothes and toys that have been sitting around in the attic for so long. Wow, the things we collect over time. Saving things for a rainy day, ha! We have a lot of rainy days, but never need the stuff then either! Do we ever really need all that stuff we are saving up to “make things” with? Not really, so that’s why I’m sorting things out and I will donate to a thrift shop where I usually go to get stuff. This is way overdue…I had planned on selling over the internet or doing a flea-market, but maybe I’ll be doing myself and someone else a big favor if I just donate it.
Now, I will be keeping a few favorite fabrics to “make stuff” with and I found a couple of vintage sheets and lace doilies stashed away that came from my mother-in-law which I am washing and plan to use in a few projects. There are still plenty of things left over which I need to do some sewing on…mainly pants and shirts for me to wear. Some of them brand new. I am very short and I have never, but once in my life, bought a pair of pants that I didn’t have to hem at least 3 inches. I guess it’s time to make room for that new sewing machine of mine in a special place in our tiny office, because that thing won’t be going anywhere in awhile! I’ve discovered that the reason I always take so long to start sewing projects is because I always have to get out all the equipment, set it up and take it down again. Time to set up a sewing station.
On another note…we took a day-trip to Colmar, France last week and I though I’d give you some impressions from this historic border town. I seem to always take pictures of the houses and nothing but houses, must be a thing with me. I just love “Fachwerk” and medieval houses. Colmar has some canals that run through the town, giving that part of the old town the name of “Little Venice”. This place is really bustling and very touristy during summer months and even on the day we went, which was not at all warm, there was quite a bit of bustling going on. Never mind what happened to me in the public toilet…one of those metal containers…I’ll spare you that! But I do want to mention that it might be wiser to choose a cafe that has a toilet and/or do your business at the rest areas on the highway before you get into town!
Well, have a lovely week everyone! I’ll be busy up in the attic and another trip to the thrift store!
