DIY Bathroom Renovation – Warning, this won’t be pretty
Hi Everyone! Gosh, it’s been awhile hasn’t it? So much has happened, but I’ve just not been in posting mode, sorry about that. Our trip to Denmark has come and gone, and one day I will write a post about it, but not today.
We got back from Denmark somewhat refreshed and after the Pentecost holiday was over, we started right on our bathroom renovation. This baby needs to get done as ET and I aren’t getting any younger, lol! I’m laughing, but not really jesting, we want to get all our major renovations down pat. We are feeling the need to just get it done and over with, you never know what lies on the road ahead and we are feeling the aches and pains of years schlepping things to and fro already. That’s what happens when you DIY all the time. I’m sure you older readers can understand it well! I’m not complaining though, just stating facts. I am very thankful we are even able to do this type of stuff.
Here are a few photos of our bathroom renovation in progress.
Actually day 1 was also spent installing a provisional shower in the basement. I really don’t care where I shower, as long as I have warm flowing water and luckily for me, ET feels the same way. So we set up shower in the basement, and it’s sort of like camping without the bugs, lol!
ET then proceeded to start knocking off the wall and floor tiles. It took a few days and all I can say is, it was loud and messy!
Before ET started with the electrical wiring and water pipes, I spent about 2 days setting the walls and floor with a bonding agent, so it wouldn’t be so dusty. Even so, our whole house has a tiny film of dust all over. You just can’t totally avoid it. I also scraped off the paint from the ceiling which we will be plastering.
I think we are doing ok with the progress. ET is back at work so it will take several weekends before we see other progress. I sort of help him along the way, but I’m no expert at tiling and the like. I’m just happy I have my shower down in the basement!
I thought I’d leave you with a pretty pic…I planted this rose in front of our house in honor of my mom who adored white roses. She went to be with
her Father in heaven and never got the chance to see our little row house in person, but every time I see this flower, I can see her smiling face.
Take care everyone, and have a great week!
